Every week, I get some version of the same question: how much does a limo from YVR actually cost?
The honest answer is that it depends. But not in the vague, hand-wavy way most companies mean when they say that. The price of a private car from Vancouver International Airport varies based on a few specific things, and once you understand them, the quotes you get will make a lot more sense.
What Drives the Price of a Private Airport Transfer
The biggest factor is the vehicle. A sedan transfer from YVR to downtown Vancouver is a different price than a Sprinter van carrying a ski group to Whistler. That should be obvious, but a lot of people start Googling rates without deciding what kind of vehicle they actually need.
Here is a rough framework. A private sedan or AWD EV transfer from YVR to downtown Vancouver or Richmond will generally run between $120 and $200 CAD. A 4×4 SUV for the same route sits higher, around $180 to $280. A Sprinter van for a group? You are looking at $350 and up, depending on the size of the party and the distance.
Those numbers shift once you move beyond Greater Vancouver. A private transfer from YVR to Banff, for example, is a full-day drive. You are paying for the vehicle, the driver, fuel across two mountain ranges, and the return trip. That is not a $200 ride. But for a group of four or five splitting the cost, it often comes out comparable to flights plus rental car plus gas plus parking, with none of the hassle.
Why Airport Limo Rates Vary So Much Between Companies
